Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about how we test gadgets, where our prices come from, and how we make money. If something is still unclear, ask us directly.

10 questions

  • We publish the numbers we actually measured, not the ones printed on the box. Every review states what we tested, how long we used the device, and where it fell short. If a gadget is not worth its price, the review says so plainly — that is the whole point of the name.

  • No. We do not accept payment for a review, for a score, or for a place in any list. Brands sometimes send us units to test, and when they do we say so at the top of that review. A loaned unit changes nothing about the rating — several sponsored-sample devices have scored badly and stayed that way.

  • The score combines real performance data with everyday usability — battery life under normal load, thermals, build quality, software behaviour, and what you get for the money at the current street price. Because price is part of it, a score can move when a product goes on a long-term discount.

  • Yes, and requests genuinely influence what we pick up next. Send us the exact model name and why you are considering it. We prioritise gadgets that a lot of readers are weighing up and where the existing coverage online is thin or clearly sponsored.

  • Every code is checked before it is published and re-checked on a schedule. Retailers still pull codes without notice, and some are capped to a limited number of uses, so an occasional code will fail. If one does not work for you, tell us and we will remove or replace it.

  • On some links, yes. When you buy through them we may earn a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you — it comes out of the retailer's margin, never your price. It also has no bearing on our scores or on which products we cover; we regularly recommend the option that earns us nothing.

  • Prices and stock are refreshed through the day from the retailers we track, and the deals page is rebuilt as those updates land. Fast-moving sale prices can still drift for a few minutes, so treat the retailer's checkout page as the final word on price.

  • Listings are pulled from the retailers themselves — specifications, images, ratings and current price — and then cleaned up so the same spec is labelled the same way across brands. That is what lets you compare a phone from one brand against another without decoding two different spec sheets.

  • We do not sell anything ourselves. Every buy button hands you over to the retailer, and your order, payment, delivery, warranty and returns are entirely between you and them. For anything about an existing order, contact that retailer's support — we have no access to it.

  • One email with the deals worth knowing about and the reviews we published that week — no daily blasts and no passing your address to anyone else. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and it takes effect immediately.
